ISA Ireland celebrates 30 years

A Read-Out Publications product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Dec 19, 2008

The Ireland Section of ISA - the International Society of Automation - celebrated thirty years since its charter was granted.

The section celebrated with a gala event attended by the Foreign Minister, the Lord Mayor of Cork, the District 12 VP of ISA from St Petersburg and the representative of international ISA president, Kim Miller Dunn.

Of the 28 presidents who have served since its foundation, 21 were present, along with around 150 other guests.

The night is recorded in this issue of Read-out.

Among other events covered is the PACT roadshow held in mid-November, also in Cork, when a group of around 12 companies were represented or spoke at a one-day seminar chaired by Eoin O'Riain, editor of Read-out.

This covered the basics of the multi-participatory software package as an FDT/DTM system.

There was also a short report on the Wonderware Ireland networking event, also held in November at Alton Towers conference facility, as well as an item on impressions of the October ISA Expo event in Houston, which was attended by Read-out personnel.

The bulk of this issue concerns industrial communication, especially wireless, and it includes an article on the lack of interoperability in industrial applications.

Most of the products highlighted in the products section of the publication are concerned with industrial communication and/or wireless.

Also highlighted are training publications on these topics.
