When there is a need to for accurate measurements in harsh environments, transducer specialist RDP Electronics Ltd has the solution.

With a comprehensive range of displacement sensors specifically designed to operate in such situations, the PY and LIN series can be used in applications including extremely high or low temperatures, excessive pressures and even nuclear radiation.

The LIN series of contacting displacement sensors utilises a linear differential inductance principle (LVDT) for measurement ranges from 10mm up to 50mm with the range including options for maximum operating temperatures of either 220C or 600C.

The design of the LIN transducer has also proved successful at pressures of 3000psi, minimum temperatures down to 220C and in nuclear radiation doses of up to 100,000 MegaRads.

Alternatively, RDP offer the compact PY series designed for non-contact proximity measurements in similarly harsh environments by using a variable reluctance principle to measure the distance of a metallic target from the sensor over ranges of 1.5mm to 6mm.
