EMC reference 'Bible' on a FREE CD
A free CD with PDF versions of 20 practical guides relating to EMC immunity and emission standards, many of which are called up by the EMC Directive, is now available from REO UK
On the same CD there are also guides on 'Mains Harmonics' and 'Good EMC Engineering Practices for Panel Builders' plus six technical articles covering related subjects These articles reflect current changes in EMC legislation such as the new EMC Directive 2004/108/EC, which will repeal the old directive on 20th July 2007 and the new Harmonics Standard EN61000-3-12 that will come into force on 1st February 2008

Braking resistor design and application in motors
When a motor is driven by its mechanical load, such as in the case of a decelerating flywheel, the motor acts as a generator and the kinetic energy is converted into electrical energy
The CD brings together all the Practical Guides published by REO in hardcopy for an easy-access reference source for just about every topic related to current EMC standards.
Together with the technical articles, there are more than 800 pages of information - a 'bible' for all engineers concerned with designing, testing and installing electrical and electronic equipment.
The guides and articles are especially useful for "dipping into" to get a quick grasp of a particular EMC problem or question.
As well as explaining each EMC phenomenon, using illustrations with examples and background information to problems, the Guides in many instances also suggest practical and simple test setups and solutions.
There are also useful references to other sources of information.
It is possible to download or request hard copies of the guides by going to the REO website, or just click on the Processingtalk Reader Response system.
The technical articles, written by Keith Armstrong of Cherry Clough Consultants, further supplement the guides by providing guidance on EMC in particular in relation to DIY Testing, Design Techniques, Functional Safety, Systems and Installations. Request a free brochure from REO (UK) ...
