Related Life Sciences UK is launching a unique product within the process and laboratory industries, for emergency isolation of chemical spillages and airborne safety threats

Related Life Sciences UK, partnering with IMG inHolland, is launching a unique product, for emergency isolation of rooms and enclosures The Barrier 2000 inflatable isolation system was originally developed as an affordable method of isolating patients and preventing the spread of infections within hospital environments

The unit is now being launched within the process and laboratory industries.

By incorporating the Barrier 2000, contamination, chemical spillages and airborne safety threats can be contained within a single room or enclosure, allowing normal operation and personnel traffic throughout the remainder of the building until cleansing or sterilisation process has taken place.

The unit is flat-packed in a small metal container and can be inflated within 10 minutes.

The low cost unit is only deployed in the event of an emergency and disposed of after use.

Incorporating an inflation pump and filtered air management system, the Barrier 2000 controls air flow within the isolation lock and contaminated room.

The pressure can be controlled as a negative or positive pressure environment, depending on where the barrier is to be located.

A purpose-designed generic, air-tight flexible flange is fitted to the Barrier 2000 to ensure that it will fit over any standard door opening.

On completion of the clean-up or contamination control phase, the unit is deflated and disposed of through the normal waste channels.

Additional disposable modules can be incorporated to provide wash-down capabilities for operators and equipment.
