RWM07 a great success!
The Recycling and Waste Management (RWM) exhibition celebrated its fortieth birthday in spectacular style last month, with record visitor and exhibitor figures and packed seminar theatres
Initial figures (subject to audit) show that 8,079 people visited RWM 07, which took place at the Birmingham NEC from 11 to 13 September This represents a 12.8% increase on the record attendance figures achieved for RWM 06

When exhibitors, press and speakers are taken to account the figure rises to 10,593, up 14.7% on the previous year.
Stand space was sold out with 459 exhibitors, over two thirds of whom have already re-booked to return in 2008.
Inside the exhibition halls, six and seven figure contracts were signed, new companies made their debuts, cutting-edge products and technologies were launched and lively debates could be heard in the busy 'Talking Climate Change' zone which was introduced for the first time this year.

RWM 07 conference talking climate change
The industry will be "talking climate change" when the un-missable Recycling and Waste Management (RWM) exhibition returns this September
Barbara Eveleigh, director, Mecmac said: "This is our first time at RWM and we've had an amazing three days.
We've been exhibiting four new cable strippers and we've taken orders for every model - our production lines will be busy on our return! We're absolutely delighted with the show; we will definitely be back next year".
Meanwhile the sun shone for three days in the outdoor exhibition area as visitors watched the latest vehicles, waste handling and recycling technology being demonstrated.
David Perks, waste and recycling manager at JCB, official partners of the outdoor waste demonstration area, said: "This year's exhibition has gone very well indeed - we've had more enquiries than ever before.
We've taken many orders on the stand and customers have commented on how professional it has been".
During RWM 07, PRM Waste Systems sealed a GBP3.1 million deal from J T Commodities Management to supply a complete Materials Recycling Facility to Lagos in Nigeria.
The 18 month contract was the direct result of an enquiry received at RWM 06.
Whitespace Waste Software and MeWa were among several other exhibiting companies who secured sizeable orders at the show.
RWM 07 is also increasingly attracting interest from overseas, with 66 international exhibitors and 566 visitors from outside of the UK.
Mr Jonathan Kodi, a representative of the Barbados government, travelled to the UK especially to visit RWM and research the equipment needed to implement a complete new waste strategy for the island.
News from the exhibition made it into the national, business and regional media, and several exhibitors were interviewed by TV and radio.
Brigit Strawbridge from the BBC series It's Not Easy Being Green, together with two contestants from the Channel 4 reality TV show, Dumped, also dropped by to find out what was new in the world of waste and recycling.
A charity dinner organised by RWM 07 helped to raise over GBP7k for the Variety Club Children's Charity.
Comedian Bob Mills entertained the guests and acted as compere for the auction.
Event manager Gerry Sherwood said: "RWM continues to go from strength to strength and is extending its position as the number one recycling and waste management exhibition in the UK, in terms of visitors and exhibitors.
I'm delighted at the way this event continues to get bigger and bigger every year, and 2008 is likely to be no different".
RWM 08 will take place from 16 to 18 September at the Birmingham NEC.
Entry remains free of charge.
