Riggs help make serious desserts
After rigorous tests, Serious Desserts chose Riggs Autopack , to supply depositors for the manufacture of its Chilled Desserts brand range
With a range of 24 product lines, Woody's Homemade is using the new machine to fill 450ml bottles with ketchup and 230ml-280ml jars with chutneys and mustards.
It is particularly impressed with the rapid changeover time, ability to handle large particulates, trouble-free cleanability and the ease of use of the Riggs machine.
Although the company still uses traditional methods of cooking, automation has had a very positive impact on output which has increased to around 500 bottles and jars per day at a speed of about 15 jars a minute.
The Woody's Homemade owner Peter Wood has been delighted with his new equipment: "We had discussed in detail our specific needs when Riggs came and demonstrated the equipment.
We were very pleased when the machine was up and running that it met all the requirements accurately with no faults".
Currently the Model 1000 depositor is being used as a stand alone machine but the company is looking at the possibilities for it to be used as part of a production line in the future as it continues to grow.
Mr Wood adds: "The new depositor has allowed the company to increase its productivity and continue expanding.
Our traditional methods of cooking will remain, however, we are delighted with what the machine is achieving and with continued growth we can look into other areas of the business where automation would have a positive impact - seeking advice of course from Riggs with whom we hope to have a lasting partnership with".
The Riggs Autopack sales manager Bob Lumb said: "We are always pleased to work with and help companies taking the first steps into automation to ensure that this is achieved in a practical and cost effective manner".
