New range of digital density and viscosity meters available from Rhomax make real time density and viscosity measurements in tanks easier, even when the tanks have special linings

New range of digital density and viscosity meters available from Rhomax make real time density and viscosity measurements in tanks easier.

Rhomax has taken a major step forward with the launch of a new range of long stemmed vibrating fork density and viscosity meters from Solartron Mobrey.

The new meters do away with the need for a sample loop, allowing direct installation in tanks, and so extends the application of the technology widely.

Tuning fork densitometers and viscometers since the early 1990s, and many of them have been installed in tank applications.

However, because of heated jackets or special linings on some tanks, it has not always been possible to install our densitometers and viscometers into existing tanks.

In these instances, most of our customers said that if we had had a top of tank mounted unit, they would have been able to install one.

We listened to our customers, and have introduced our new long stem versions.

The digital density and viscosity meters use vibrating fork technology to measure the viscosity and density of the liquid.

They are available in standard lengths from 0.5 to 4.0 metres.

They can be installed in both open and closed tanks.

The density version can be used in liquids of a density range of 0-3000 kg/m3.

The calibration range is 600-1250 kg/m3.

Where viscosity is required as well as density, our viscometer version can be used to measure viscosity from 0.5 to 20,000cst.

The operating temperature range for non-hazardous area operation is -50C to 200C.

For hazardous area operation, the operating temperature is -40C to 160C.

The enclosure is sealed to IP66 and is ATEX approved.

An intelligent transmitter, these sensors incorporate advanced electronics that carry out all signal processing and calculation.

Output is a 4-20mA signal and via an RS232/485 Modbus interface for continuous monitoring of multiple parameters.

They may be used as a stand-alone monitoring device or with Solartron Mobrey AdView software for PC-based remote configuration, diagnostics, data logging and analysis.

It can be used for direct, closed loop control, or integrated into any plant-wide computerised control or SCADA system.

The new versions are available in 316 stainless steel.

All versions can be supplied with electro-polished or PTFE-coated tines to provide non-stick self-cleaning properties.
