The motor windings are encased in high conductivity material, allowing them to perform higher duty cycles, and a segmented core construction allows more torque producing windings to be concentrated in a small space, resulting in a shorter motor.
The high torque-to-inertia ratio of the MP Series motors provides impressive acceleration characteristics.
For example, replacing a conventional motor with an MP Series could increase output in a typical application from 1000 to 1800 units/hour.
This is a significant benefit for machinery manufacturers where throughput and capacity can be a deciding factor.
For applications that require high-end accuracy and precision, the MP Series motors offer multiple feedback options, including smart, high resolution, absolute feedback devices.
With a network used to communicate between the motor and the servo drive, the absolute/high resolution feedback system offers up to 2 million counts per revolution.
At power up, the position of the machine axis is communicated to the controller, so no homing sequence is required, there is no wasted product and start-up time is much shorter.
Connection to the motors is usually by means of pre-made cable assemblies to speed installation and reduce wiring errors.
Alternatively, if preferred, customers can make up their own cables using industry standard ITT Cannon style connectors.
MP Series motors cost no more than the conventional motors they replace.
They provide a degree of protection to IP 66 and are based on IEC frame sizes to now give a torque from 1.5Nm to 163Nm continuous.
