The SABIC affiliated Company; Arabian Industrial Fibers Company (IBN Rushd) plans to implement an expansion project to add 230,000 metric tons of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) annually

The SABIC affiliated Company; Arabian Industrial Fibers Company (IBN Rushd) plans to implement an expansion project to add 230,000 metric tons of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) annually In a meeting on 19 Oct 2005, the IBN Rushd new board of directors, under the chairmanship of Dr Abdullah Al Abdul Qadir, has ratified the new project which is expected to go on stream in Q2 2007

This project will bring the complex's total annual production capacity to 300,000 MT to meet the growing local and global demand especially from the packaging products industry.

SABIC owns 48.93% of IBN Rushd.

The remaining shares are owned by a group of local and regional companies and establishments.

The IBN Rushd complex at Yanbu Industrial City is a leader in the Middle East in manufacturing polyester feedstock, aromatics, purified terephthalic and acetic acids.
