30 June 2003 - ATEX goes live
After seven years, the transition period is almost over: on 30 June 2003, equipment suppliers will no longer be able use 'old approach' EC directives to operate in the European Union
The most important safety feature of the SolConeX range is a reliable switch-disconnector that comes with a large, easily visible switching lever.
Plugging and unplugging is easily and safely carried out in position 0, removing the need for potentially damaging twisting and pulling.
With IP66 protection and a broad ambient operating range, the SolConeX series is ideal for rough industrial use.
The plugs and sockets come in standard versions as well as those designed specifically for intrinsically safe circuits.
An added safety feature of the new plugs is that they guarantee IP66 protection in any application position, even when not plugged in.
SolConeX is the world's first series of plugs and sockets to include up to two optional, retrofittable auxiliary contacts.
These can be snapped on to the flange with surprising ease, even after installation of the socket.
So auxiliary contacts, which are pre-mating when disconnecting, can be used as load-shedding contacts or to integrate plugs and sockets easily in automation systems.
As all R Stahl plugs and sockets, both new and old models, are 100% compatible, retrofitting and procuring spare parts is simple.
This also means that conversion to new equipment can be a gradual and extremely low-cost process.
As they meet the requirements of IEC 60309, the SolConeX series is suitable for use worldwide.
