The UK's premier packaging solutions company, Sirane, producer of compostable packaging, Resolve, has scored another hit with its Fat Trap absorbent grill pad

"We believe that our new 'Fat Trap' is the cleanest and healthiest solution in order to both grill foods and serve the environment", says Simon Balderson, Sirane director The thermally reflective surface of the Fat Trap grill pad ensures that all food is cooked evenly and quickly

During cooking the dripping from the grilled food is automatically absorbed and trapped inside the pad.

After cooking, the grill remains clean.

In terms of waste, the Fat Trap pad coating then can easily be removed for recycling while the Fat Trap absorber is totally biodegradable.

Balderson adds: 'In truth we feel that we are currently just scratching the surface of a very large market'.

The Fat Trap product has been recently featured in the national media on Radio 2 and Sirane continues to sign up distributors.

For some of these the Fat Trap has become the number one best seller.

'Part of its success lies in a very simple design' notes Balderson; 'Aluminium crimped onto a cellulose base - the two parts of which are fully recyclable and compostable.

No adhesives, solvents or detergents are used in its manufacture and our cellulose materials are sourced from sustainable sources'.

For this grill-based product Sirane sees the UK market leading Europe but expects Continental purchasing to also gather pace, especially in France and other parts of Western Europe.

The Fat Trap, a Sirane registered trademark, is only available from Sirane together with sister products the Fat Trap Rotisserie liner products.

These are principally used in rotisseries, hot-food display cabinets, breakfast buffets and other cooking and hot display units.

The Sirane liner has been designed to soak up the fat whilst products on display are cooking, to present a cleaner and attractive viewpoint for customers.

The Fat Trap liner has the added benefit of reducing cleaning time and costs.
