The premier UK packaging solutions company, Sirane, enjoyed a comprehensively successful show at the UK Foodex Meatex exhibition earlier this month

The varieties of novel Sirane packaging were much appreciated by the passing visitors - and at least one hundred and ten quality enquiries were gathered at the show for progress and processing in the coming weeks 'Whatever the overall economic climate may be' says Simon Balderson, Sirane director, 'we are currently finding the food packaging industry in very buoyant form; keen and innovative and ready to embrace new ideas; some inspired by the consumer, some from the supermarkets and others clearly in the service of environmental initiatives which continue to dominate the general scene'

Sirane accordingly fielded a full strength team of four for the three-day duration of Foodex Meatex and the company played to its recent and well heralded successes in fruit, flowers and seafood packaging - and not least in meat packaging.

Jeremy Haydn Davies says that the Sirane compostable Resolve absorbant pad has now been ordered in bulk by Italian food major Coop Box - and that the results will be seen in volume in UK supermarkets this summer.

'The past six months has really proved to us that all of Europe is truly the Sirane home market,' he notes: 'Once they realise the capabilities of the products, Continental food buyers and food suppliers in all areas are not afraid to order in bulk from Telford.

Fruit packaging from Holland and Spain, meat packaging for Italy and a general increase in business from Sirane France means that we are pushing on an open door when it comes to the Continent'.

Interest in Sirane packaging was particularly strong at Foodex Meatex from food packers based in Ireland: the Sirane long-standing work and relationship with Irish meat major Kepak - particularly for its Rustlers range of burgers - has not been lost on the Irish industry.

'We are extremely proud of our long standing work with the Rustlers brand,' says Balderson: 'and are now helping Kepak make inroads into Continental Europe'.

Meantime, the new Sirane factory in Telford is being kitted out for state-of-the-art production, both in terms of audited hygiene and production efficiency and will be unveiled for media interest in some six weeks time.

New moves regarding the Sirane business in the USA are also set to be announced next month, together with new partnerships in the UK market.
