Schmersal (UK), the specialist in man-machine safety systems, introduces the AZM 161-12/12, a six-contact solenoid interlock that provides four methods of cable entry and four actuator entry positions

Schmersal (UK) Ltd, the specialist in man-machine safety systems, has launched the AZM 161-12/12, a six-contact solenoid interlock that provides four methods of cable entry and four actuator entry positions to enable it to be fitted in any position.

The comprehensive contact configuration of the AZM 161-12/12 is suitable for all safety circuit designs and can be connected to standard safety relay modules as well as standard or proprietary safety controllers or bus systems.

In addition, signal contacts are available to indicate the status of the safety guard and solenoid interlock to the machine control system.

Schmersal also offers plug-in connector variants and various actuators and a comprehensive selection of safety modules to integrate the solenoid interlock into the safety system.

The AZM 161-12/12 is also very flexible, with all applications being covered with just four versions.

Two work on the spring-to-lock principle (a 24 VAC/DC and 110/230 VAC) in which the interlock remains locked in the "no-power" state.

The other two (24 VAC/DC and 110/230 VAC) work on the power-to-lock principle in which the interlock is locked electromagnetically when power is applied.

The IP 67 rated safety interlock has a high holding force of 2000 N and is equipped with a manual release as standard.

Alternatively, versions with emergency exit, emergency release and M12 connectors are available.

The AZM 161-12/12 has the same dimensions as the Schmersal widely used AZM 160, allowing it be integrated into existing systems without modifications.

Alternatively, mounting kits are available to simplify fitting to a variety of guard devices.
