Tantalum and Niobium are known in the chemical industry for outstanding resistance to hostile acidic environments, plus corrosion similar to glass, without being brittle or subject to thermal shock

Tantalum and to a lesser extent niobium, are well known in the chemical industry for their outstanding resistance to a variety of the most hostile acidic environments, having a corrosion resistance similar to glass but without the brittleness and susceptibility to thermal shock Special Metals Supplies Limited has recently set up a new manufacturing facility just off the M1 in Sheffield to manufacture these materials, and their alloys, to exacting customer requirements

Using a quality system conforming to ISO 9000:2000, materials can be supplied in standard sizes or rolled to special thickness especially for the requirements of the bursting disc industry where a combination of cross rolling and annealing schedules ensures uniform bursting properties.

As well as supplying product to appropriate ASTM Standards, they also offer a service of fabricating to customer drawings.
