Devonvale Bakery is the latest food manufacturer to select Sanderson SBS Sanderson, the publicly owned UK provider of software for the food and process industries has won a contract to supply its small business solution (SBS) to leading cake manufacturer Devonvale Bakery

Devonvale bakes flapjacks, fruit crumbles and shortbreads, selling to distributors and wholesalers.

Ambitious plans to extend the family run business in the next two years sparked a review of current business processes.

Following a comprehensive evaluation, Devonvale and their IT consultants concluded that Sanderson SBS was the only fully integrated food specialist solution that could meet their current requirements whilst supporting planned future growth.

Sanderson SBS will replace two Sage systems which can no longer support the expanding business.

The automation of business processes will drive out inefficiencies and promote efficient working practices throughout the organisation.

Devonvale will also benefit from a dedicated system support team, both during the implementation process and beyond.

Crucially, the project support team are experienced food specialists with extensive knowledge of food manufacturing processes and operations.

Trudy Upham, Director of Devonvale explains; "Sanderson SBS was the only market solution that could address all areas of our operation as standard.

The system will automate many manual systems; a single integrated database will allow us to retain individual supplier specifications, negating the need for the time consuming maintenance of Excel spreadsheets.

Automatic generation of production and despatch paperwork will further reduce manual processes, providing both time and cost savings.

SBS will also provide quick two-way traceability which is key to maintaining customer confidence as supply chain auditing becomes more frequent in the current climate of rising regulation".

Roger Stares, General Manager of Process Industries at Sanderson concluded; "We are delighted to supply our Small Business Solution to Devonvale Bakery.

As a food manufacturer with ambitious growth plans, SBS is the ideal IT solution to help streamline processes by fully integrating the bakery operations.

SBS has multi site capability which Devonvale expect to exploit in the future; this feature will provide an additional return on their initial investment with Sanderson".
