Sealed Air, manufacturer of packaging products and machines, has secured a series of major contracts with Cinram International - a worldwide provider of pre-recorded multimedia products and services

Sealed Air, a leading global manufacturer of packaging products and machines, beat off competition in the UK and France to secure a series of major contracts with Cinram International - a worldwide provider of pre-recorded multimedia products and services Two Shanklin machines - the Shanklin HS3/T72 and the Shanklin F5AH/T7H have recently been installed into the Cinram UK replication and distribution factory in Ipswich whilst in France, Cinram have invested in the Sealed Air Cryovac Adapt film

The machines, which have been customised by the Shanklin dedicated force of skilled engineers to suit the specific Cinram needs, are now being used to pack DVD films at a rate of 3,600 - 4,200 DVDs per hour.

The Shanklin HS3/T72 and the Shanklin F5AH/T7H have both been equipped with a 12m infeed conveyor - the HS3 has also been fitted with a synchronic infeed, whereas the F5AH has been supplied with a 250mm high endseal jaw.

The endseal jaw brings with it flexibility to quickly change between product sizes, a full range of products are packed from a single DVD, through to box-sets up to 240mm high.

On the other side of the English Channel, the French arm of Cinram carried out extensive trials over a six month period before finally also opting for the Sealed Air Cryovac Adapt film, as the best choice to wrap their extensive portfolio of DVD film products.

Cryovac Adapt was chosen over competitor film because its extraordinary properties enable Cinram to save both time and money whilst giving an attractive finish.

Wrapped DVDs have a low haze, high gloss, wrinkle free pack appearance, important to set products aside from in-store rivals.

Longer rolls of film mean reduced down time - competitive advantage achieved by Cryovac Adapt being thinner than the previous film used by Cinram.

Sealed Air has built a strong relationship with Cinram over the last 10 years and the company now uses a range of Sealed Air products including Bubble Wrap protective film, OPP films and Mail Lite protective mailers.

Shanklin machines are running at the Cinram worldwide operation spanning countries in two continents - North America and Europe.

This success follows the initial installation of two Shanklin F5 machines eight and 10 years ago at the Cinram UK factory in Ipswich.

Martin Simpson, business manager for machines at Sealed Air UK says: "Part of the success is that Cinram know that they will always receive good after sales support, technical service and spares.

Over the last 10 years Shanklin has proven to be a reliable and flexible machine which consistently produces low-cost packs". Request free introductory details about products from Sealed Air ...
