Manufacturer of own label ready meals, Headland Foods, has installed Breezair evaporative cooling at its factory to provide a cost effective answer to both its cooling and heating problems

Leading manufacturer of frozen own label ready meals, Headland Foods, has found a cost effective answer to its cooling and heating problems by installing state-of-the-art Breezair evaporative cooling at its factory in Grimsby, North East Lincolnshire By utilising the Breezair fan to blow air over a steam heating coil and through the ductwork and vents, the company is able to supply comfort heating in the winter period

In summer the heating coil is switched off and the Breezair evaporative air coolers create an improved working environment for employees.

Specified by Pidra Environments, a company specialising in the design, supply and installation of environmental cooling and heating systems, the Breezair coolers have drastically improved the overall thermal comfort and air quality for Headland Foods staff in the main cooking suite area.

The 430 square metre-cooking suite is located in a modern building with a shallow pitched sloping roof and a large roof void clad with insulating metal deck sheeting.

Although Headland Foods had installed central air handling units within the area, these had little effect in reducing temperatures.

Throughout the summer months, and during late spring and early autumn, the working areas in the Cooking Suite were subjected to uncomfortable and oppressive conditions for personnel.

So that the TBA550 Breezair coolers could be easily maintained, Headland Foods requested that the coolers were suspended behind a heavy-duty false ceiling in the roof void where temperatures were particularly high due to radiated heat from the sun.

In order to create a near ambient airflow to the Breezair coolers, Pidra installed three powered extract ventilators, which pull ventilation through the existing roof louvres.

The additional installation of steam heater coils in the ducting has helped temper the incoming air in the winter months to provide year round comfort for the personnel.

"We initially installed two Breezair Evaporative Coolers to assess whether they would be effective", says Neil Armitage, Engineering Manager at Headlands Foods.

"They have proved so successful that we have asked Pidra to install a further three coolers next year".

The only company to provide a full range of evaporative coolers for a cross section of industries and applications, the Seeley International RPX, EA, TBA, ICON and Mobile air coolers incorporate the most advanced evaporate cooling technology in the world.

The systems are economic to install, provide healthier working conditions and consume far less energy than conventional air-conditioning systems.

Far more versatile than standard cooling methods, Breezair is capable of providing sufficient cool air to overflow and prevent hot air entering a building.

As fresh air is continually drawn from outside, then passed over a water saturated medium and washed, the potential for "sick building" syndrome from constantly re-circulating stale air is avoided.

The Breezair is suitable for both commercial and industrial applications in a spectrum of industries that include agriculture, horticulture, manufacturing, catering and hotels, and public and residential buildings.

Manufactured to the highest standards, the Breezair is backed by 30 years of experience in climate control at Seeley International, and the company's commitment to excellence in customer service.
