Stem Drive manufactures patented, submersible, fluidic mixers for mixing and aerating liquids and slurries in the chemical, process, food manufacturing, and water and effluent treatment industries

Patented mixer pump mixes and heats molasses simultaneously at animal feed plant Stem Drive Ltd manufactures and installs patented, submersible, fluidic mixers for mixing and aerating liquids and slurries in the chemical, process, food manufacturing, and water and effluent treatment industries

The innovative mixing system for maintaining solids in suspension was exhibited in October 2004 at WEFTEC.04, New Orleans, USA, and IFEST, Ghent, Belgium and will be exhibited at IWEX, Birmingham, UK in October 2005.

The mixer has no moving parts, is non-blocking, maintenance free, suitable for use in arduous and hazardous environments and is widely used by the major water companies and authorities in the UK.

The external power source is out-with the mixing vessel, keeping maintenance to a minimum, is usually compressed air, biogas, nitrogen or steam.

Systems are easy to install, and can be fitted without emptying tanks, eliminating the need for plant shutdown.

Inline systems are also available.

Two such systems powered by steam at 3bar have been in successful operation for 4 years at Carrs Billington Agriculture Ltd, Carlisle, a major manufacturer of compound animal feeds, blends and specialist mixtures.

Each stainless steel unit is installed in a 2.5 inch main and processes continuously molasses at a rate of 1400 kg/hr at a temperature of 50 degrees C.

The heated molasses are fed directly to conditioners, mixed with meal and then press pelletised for cattle and sheep feed.
