A revolutionary new process controller combining the functionality of a PLC, SCADA MMI and a remote communications facility is now available from Serck Controls.

The SCXe is a revolutionary new type of process controller, combining the functionality of a PLC, SCADA MMI and the remote communications facilities normally provided by an Outstation or RTU.

This 'One Box' control solution reduces the cost of hardware, integration and installation through the reduction in units needed and the use of open standards for connectivity and programming.

The unit uses the standard control languages of IEC 61131-3, and has fully isolated I/O, comprising of 32 digital inputs, 16 digital outputs, 12 analogue inputs, 4 analogue outputs.

When functioning as a full outstation with RTU logging, the unit has alarm handling with multi protocol support to host SCADA including DNP3, Modbus and others.

All protocols are available over the built-in serial or network connections.

It has local data concentrator functionality including store and forward, point reflect and local control functions.

It will nterface with third party PLCs, RTUs and other SCADA software.

All protocols are available over the built-in serial or network connections.

The MMI options include PC, flat panel, PDA and Web browser for mimics, trends, alarms and events.

Full configuration is via a standard PC.

The unit supports open standards for data access, such as OPC (data access, historic, alarm and event), ODBC and XML.

It is suitable for wide temperature ranges (-10 to 65 degrees C).

A full security model is built in, consistent across all interfaces.

To summarise, the combination of control and powerful data handling functionality provides the ultimate solution for applications requiring process control, remote and local communications and data storage.
