SmartMeter water meters address the global need for economic smart metering technology, providing accurate flow measurement for the entire product lifetime, using fluidic oscillation technology

Solid state SmartMeter water meters provide accurate measurement of water flows throughout the entire product lifetime, through the employment of the tried and tested fluidic oscillation technology With no moving parts, SmartMeter is not negatively affected by wear and avoids the accuracy problems that can be caused by sand and grit

The unique air detection system prevents measurement of air flow, which can occur at high points in the water network and at the start of water delivery.

The SmartMeter advanced sensing technology delivers extended operational life with long term accuracy and replaceable battery options.

SmartMeters are available as visually read meters or in a fully AMR enabled format using inductive pads, radio communications device or any form of automatic meter reading technology (AMR device) connecting to the direct read interface through the encoded or pulse meter application.

In addition to recording the total volume of water consumed, SmartMeter has a unique event monitoring facility, enabling the meter to detect tampering, periods of continuous consumption, periods with no consumption, air flow within the supply and battery status.

This information is provided through the AMR data port in an extended data read format along with the meter serial number and volume reading.

SmartMeter extended data functionality provides the water utility with information on network performance, attempted fraudulent use, leakage detection, consumption patterns and battery status.

This enables water utilities to effectively manage resources in addition to providing accurate and reliable billing data.

The data is provided in the form of event counts, which can be routinely monitored and compared to previous counts, enabling network problems or issues with customer installation to be easily identified.

If the flow of water does not cease for a predetermined period of time, a count is added to the extended data packet.

In situations where the count continues to increase following each reading, the water company is able to conclude that there is potentially a leak in the system.

The continuous flow counter is set to a default threshold period of two weeks of continuous water use.

Air passing through the system can be detected and logged.

SmartMeter detects when air passes through the pipe, so that it does not register the air in the system.

From this, a count is added to the extended data packet to identify the frequency of the air event.

This functionality is particularly useful in the move to continuous supply to identify the success of the transition.

SmartMeters have been designed to be tamper resistant.

The assembly is strong, compact and has a concealed battery compartment with a tamper proof lid.

If the battery is removed and then reconnected, the interruption in power is monitored and counted.

This information is provided as a tamper count within the extended data packet.

Data logging at any desired frequency using the extended data packet allows high resolution data for consumption monitoring applications.

This enables detailed profile analysis to be performed.

Programmable serial numbers provide the flexibility to configure meters as required on installations.

This enables direct replacement without needing the change the serial numbers recorded in the utility billing system.

The battery status indicator gives a warning 12 months prior to the battery running out to enable the utility to change it in time.

SmartMeter has the ability to monitor its own battery and prolong its use by identifying when it has 12 months remaining on its life.

The meter gives a visual identification and sends the battery status in the data packet.

This feature provides water companies with 12 months to exchange the battery.
