And, of course, we live in a world where continuous improvement of products and services has been ingrained in many cultures.
If you can't deliver affordable, effective and efficient solutions to keep customers in compliance and protect public health, you won't be in business for long".
Here are some of the product developments Severn Trent Services has introduced in the past two months:.
* Chlorine Dioxide Generation.
The Capital Controls T70GS4000 new mini chlorine dioxide generator is ideal for applications such as Legionella control in cooling water and building services industries.
With a generating range of 2g/day to 10g/hour, the equipment can be used for safe, on-demand production of chlorine dioxide where very low dosage rates are required.
In addition to its use in controlling Legionella, the T70GS4000 can be used for primary water disinfection, THM reduction, iron and manganese removal in potable water treatment, wastewater treatment, and, in the food and beverage industry, for microbiological control.
The leadership line of Capital Controls chlorine dioxide generation equipment has a range of 2g/day to 10,000g/hour.
* SmartMeter Metering.
SmartMeter water meters address the global need for economic smart metering solutions.
The new SM700 and SM150VR no-moving-parts water meters provide accurate measurement of water flows throughout the entire product lifetime using tried and tested technology.
Both feature life-long accuracy and a 15-year battery life to provide significant savings in whole-life costs when compared to traditional metering technology.
The SM150VR model is a visually read meter, while the SM150VR Plus version enables additional functionality as an AMR-enabled meter.
A unique feature of the SM150VR Plus is the ability to provide instant meter reads and "doorstep billing" through an inductive coil in the meter and a hand-held printer device.
Advantages of the system include reduced billing costs for the water company; confirmation of bill receipt; accurate bills based on actual data; electronic data input; and instant print out of the bill and receipt of payment.
The SmartMeter SM700 is available as a visually read meter or in a fully AMR-enabled format using inductive pads, radio communications device or any form of automatic meter reading technology (AMR device) connecting to the direct read interface through the encoded or pulse meter application.
* Dry Emergency Scrubber.
The EST Dry Emergency Chlorine Scrubber, Type DES 3000 is a standardised, one-ton system designed to mitigate accidental chlorine gas releases in municipal and industrial applications in accordance with Uniform Fire Code requirements.
The new scrubber provides a safe, user-friendly and low-maintenance alternative to wet scrubbers and features lower long-term maintenance and operating costs than traditional wet scrubber systems.
* Sodium Hypochlorite Generation.
A standardised ClorTec Series MCT on-site sodium hypochlorite generating system meets disinfection requirements for 12 to 36 lb/day and 5.4 to 16.3 kg/day of chlorine equivalent.
The Series MCT systems are supplied in a factory-tested, skid-mounted configuration and come with standard features including a high-efficiency electrolytic cell or cells, on-board water softener, integrated control panel/power supply and brine proportioning pump.
Standardisation of the ClorTec MCT ensures easy ordering, and the compact design allows for easy maintenance and system expansion.
* UV Disinfection.
In addition, the company recently announced the acquisition of the business of Quay Technologies of Berkshire, UK, manufacturers of a proprietary microwave ultraviolet (UV) technology for use in water and wastewater disinfection.
The Quay Technologies novel disinfection method offers a modular 4-lamp design to meet varying flow rates and demands and a standard three-year lamp life guarantee on each system reduces maintenance concerns and whole-life costs.
The Quay UV systems will be offered to the water and wastewater treatment market under the new brand name, MicroDynamics, and supplies both closed-vessel and open-channel systems.
"We pride ourselves on being a global water and wastewater solutions provider and as such we strive to maintain a broad yet highly specialised understanding of the markets, enabling us to introduce innovative technology to meet varying demands" Abbott added: "Our business is concentrated around disinfection, instrumentation and filtration technologies, contract operating services and state-of-the-art residential metering products and services.
Our analytical services group is the UK's leading environmental testing organization, and our international management services business provides support in all aspects of water and wastewater utility operational development and business transformation.
Our commitment to meeting the everyday needs of our customers is the driving factor behind our innovative approach to the market".
