Smartmeter wins Aquatech Innovation Award

A Severn Trent Services product story

The Smartmeter SM150VR+ water meter from Severn Trent Services has received the Aquatech Innovation Award in the Process Control Technology and Process Automation category at Aquatech Amsterdam.

The Smartmeter SM150VR+ has a 15-year battery life.

It is able to upgrade to an encoded output, which enables the meter to be read using an AMR (automatic meter reading) device.

This ensures that billing data is correct and enables meters to be read without requiring access to the property.

The meter has a built-in induction touch read capability.

This is a standard feature, allowing utilities to take the first step towards AMR at no added cost for the meter.

This instant electronic read functionality lends itself to 'doorstep billing', a system that accelerates the meter reading and billing process.

The company's Microdynamics microwave ultraviolet (UV) disinfection system was also nominated for an Innovation Award in the Water Treatment category.

The microwave UV technology enables the use of electrodeless bulbs.

All systems are modular, with a small footprint and use the same parts and components.

The operating costs of Microdynamics systems can be as little as half of competing UV technologies.

Severn Trent Services supplies both closed-vessel and open-channel microwave UV systems.
