Juergen Koehler joined Siemens in 1984 as a project engineer.
Since then he has worked in mainland Europe and more recently in China, where he spent five years developing Automation and Drives product, service and training business in this rapidly growing and important global market.
Mr Koehler, who takes over from Hans Ullrich Schliefer who retires after 42 years with Siemens, will be focusing his attention on maintaining the Siemens Automation and Drive position as the overall leader in automation and control.
He believes that, customer focus, innovation, people development e-business are key to achieving his business goals.
