The new Sigrist DualScat from Siemens delivers highly reliable measurement of the turbidity of filtered beer, unfiltered beer, and wort, to ensure final product quality in the brewing industry

The new Sigrist DualScat from Siemens Automation and Drives - Process Instrumentation and Analytics, delivers highly reliable measurement of the turbidity of filtered beer, unfiltered beer, and wort As part of the Sigrist range of process turbidimeters, the multipurpose DualScat has a measuring span from 0 to 500 EBC

The DualScat is the first in-line turbidimeter capable of measuring 90 degree and forward scattered light simultaneously with a single detector head, making it ideally suited to very compact installation in cramped conditions.

The instrument is inserted into the product pipe using a standard in-line housing, and takes full advantage of the Sigrist dual-beam measurement technique for the reliable compensation of beer colouration and cell window fouling.

The result is a highly reliable and stable measurement signal.

The role of turbidity measurement in process optimisation is the detection of filterable solids.

It is key to ensuring the quality of the final product, as well as being crucial to the control of various process steps.

The turbidity level is determined by measuring the intensity of the light scattered by the solid particles.

The intensity of the scattered light is proportional to the solids, ie particle concentration.

Sigrist turbidimeters are used worldwide for quality control and filtration monitoring, thus helping to ensure the quality of beverages such as beer, whisky, mineral water, wine and fruit juices.

All Sigrist turbidimeters are calibrated at the factory with formazine in the relevant EBC, ASBC, NTU or FNU units.
