A new range of Turbidimeters is now available from Siemens Automation and Drives, with models that can help guarantee the quality of the water entering any process

A new range of Turbidimeters is now available from Siemens Automation and Drives - Process Instrumentation and Analytics The devices, known as AquaScat can help guarantee the quality of the water entering the process as any increase in turbidity could be a marker for Cryptosporidium contamination, but just as important the AquaScat can be used to optimise and control the various process steps, ensuring that the consumer is provided with wholesome good quality water in line with the current guidelines

At the top of the range is the AquaScat WTM.

The WTM model is a direct replacement for the WTM 500, which is used to monitor turbidity levels at over 700 sites in the UK including several of the major water companies.

With a measuring span of 0-4000 FNU, the device covers all applications found within the water treatment process.

The AquaScat WTM version features contactless measurement in a free-falling water stream and automatic calibration checking is available as an optional extra.

These features ensure that the AquaScat delivers highly accurate turbidity measurements - even at the lowest turbidity levels.

Servicing requirements are kept to a minimum, thereby reducing whole life costs.

The AquaScat HT version also uses non-contact measurement, with reduced resolution of 0.1 FNU and the same measuring span.

This lower-priced version is intended mainly for higher turbidity levels, such as in raw, clarified and even in final effluent applications in the waste water treatment process.

The third variant in the AquaScat range is the P version.

The AquaScat P is ideally suited to applications where users are dealing with gas-saturated water susceptible to bubble formation (this can impair measurement when the pressure is relieved).

Because the AquaScat P uses internal windows and is therefore suited to measurements under pressure, it is intended primarily for clean water applications and in situations that don't allow higher sample flow rates These three versions enable the AquaScat to cover all conceivable applications of turbidity measurement within water treatment, from highly turbid waters up to 4000 FNU, to optimally filtered pure water with <0.015 FNU.

AquaScat Turbidimeters are available in the UK now.
