Sitrans LR460 is the new continuous radar level measurement transmitter from Siemens, featuring 24GHz frequency modulated continuous wave technology and Process Intelligence echo processing

The Sitrans LR460 is designed for difficult solids applications, including those with extreme dust, high temperatures and long ranges up to 100 meters (328 feet) Virtually any solid medium can be measured, including cement powder, fly-ash, coal, gypsum, flour, grain, aggregates and plastics

Intense dust in the silo atmosphere does not attenuate the Sitrans LR460 radar signal, as the device uses electromagnetic waves traveling at the speed of light to measure the distance to the material surface.

With new Process Intelligence advanced echoprocessing software and completely redesigned high frequency/high gain circuitry, Sitrans LR460 is able to reliably measure difficult applications utilising the benefit of non-contact technology.

After initial setup, Process Intelligence ensures that the Sitrans LR460 responds automatically to changing material conditions and physical silo features such as fixed obstructions or product build-up.

Process Intelligence signal analysis of echoes received from the application is unmatched in the industry.

With easy start up the Sitrans LR460 includes a Quick Start Wizard which can be enabled locally through the standard user interface or remotely via Simatic PDM.

The result is repeatable, fast and reliable continuous measurement of material during static, discharge or filling conditions.

Sitrans LR460 includes a new antenna for low loss of signal and improved gain of signal reception, increasing the signal-to-noise ratio.

It allows for detection of very low dielectric constant materials over long ranges.

Reliable measurement is possible with a space-saving small horn antenna of only 100 millimeter (4inch) diameter; no large diameter parabolic dish is required.

With the built-in Easy Aimer, it is simple to install and orient the device for optimum signal reception.

The transmitter can be positioned relative to the sloped surface of the material, improving the return signal quality.

Ample room for wiring and rugged screw terminals allows for fast and easy installation.

The infrared hand-held programmer is non-intrusive, allowing the device to be programmed without opening the cover.

Sitrans LR460 reliably measures material at any temperature, and handles process temperatures at the horn up to 200C (392F).

Optional self-cleaning purging connection and dust covers are available to prevent material building up inside the antenna.
