Integrated automation and building systems

A Siemens Automation and Drives product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Aug 31, 2007

Siemens will be an exhibitor at Ilmac in Basel, Switzerland, an international industrial trade fair for R+D, environmental and process technology in pharmaceuticals, chemicals and biotechnology

At this year's Ilmac, from September 25 to 29, the Siemens Automation and Drives Group, from Nuremberg, Germany, and the Siemens Building Technologies Group, from Zug in Switzerland, are exhibiting their integrated portfolio for improving efficiency in laboratory management and in process development.

For laboratories, Siemens has an industry-specific portfolio of solutions with tailor-made building technology and equipment.

This extends from the planning of technical equipments for buildings, through building security and automation to building management.

The process automation can be used at every stage - from research and development in the laboratory, through the engineering of the plant, to the production.

This means that the parameters worked out in the laboratory can easily be transferred to the pilot and large-scale production stages.

This significantly simplifies the engineering, for example.

In addition, the consistent use of technology results in better quality, greater process safety and reduced costs and development times.

In the field of consulting and engineering, Siemens is exhibiting its comprehensive range for all stages of a project - from process development to the planning of a production plant, including assembly and start-up.

The Siemens range of products and services extends across the entire life cycle of a plant and its infrastructure and covers the process and automation technology, including the subjects of safety and process and energy optimisation.

In addition, Siemens is exhibiting Siprocess, the modular, automated microprocessor system for efficient procedure and product development, as well as Simatic PCS7 LAB, a process control system designed specifically for laboratories.

This can be implemented with great flexibility; the solutions worked out can then be transferred simply and seamlessly to the large-scale production.

The range of Siemens exhibits is completed by Simatic IT, for efficient and integrated data management in research and development, and Sipat, a software solution that supports users in implementing process analytical technology (PAT).

The software is scalable and modular.
