Siemens presents electrical installation systems for boosting plant availability and energy efficiency, and for cross-sector solutions, at the Light + Building expo this year

"As one of the world's leading vendors of electrical installation systems, we have a broad, integrated portfolio of products and systems for electrical installation and building infrastructure," said Godehardt Schneider, CEO of the Siemens Business Unit Electrical Installation Technology "At this year's Light + Building expo, we will present our innovations from the product families Alpha distribution boards, Beta Low-Voltage Circuit Protection, Gamma building management systems, and Delta switches and socket outlets"

On the infrastructure market, Siemens is focusing on increasing energy efficiency and will present its integrated range of products and services.

Power utility companies can now calculate energy consumption in domestic and utility buildings with the help of Alpha meter cabinets and a new electronic domestic meter.

The information is thus provided much faster than before, reducing the response time to fluctuations in demand, and contributing to cost-effective energy use.

Godehardt Schneider adds: "The KNX bus system is a key technology for reading out consumption values.

It has established itself in building automation and has now become the standard in utility buildings.

The installation engineer's work is made easier particularly by simple handling, short installation times, and integration into different facilities".

The new KNXnet/IP standard adds an Internet connection to KNX.

This means, for example, that all operational systems can be represented in graphic form on one or more PCs, operating states can be checked, and plants can be controlled centrally or in distributed configurations.

Users benefit from simpler working methods and reduced costs.

Simatic Power Management Software offers the user savings potential for entire plants supplied with electricity, gas, water, compressed air and heat.

Data is collected, for example, in the low-voltage power distribution sector using a variety of measuring devices such as the Sentron PAC3200 multifunction measuring device or the Sentron circuit-breakers.

Power Management gives a significantly more transparent view of energy demand in industrial plants and utility buildings, enabling users to selectively control consumption and reduce operating costs.

From the Beta product range Siemens has everything required for modern low-voltage circuit protection, such as devices for plant monitoring or for efficient energy controlling.

With the help of the LAN coupler, measuring devices can be read via Internet.

Further communication options include Modbus, Profibus DP or a cell phone.

To increase plant availability and to guarantee safe shutdown in the event of a fault, Siemens offers the universal current sensitive FI protective element Siquence Type B.

The new Alpha distribution boards and systems with integral grounding concept will be presented for utility buildings and for infrastructure facilities.

There is a new version of the "Alpha select" software for planning and configuring Alpha distributors and Beta modular installation devices, as well as the Gamma range of devices.

"Also of significance is our range of products and services within the scope of Totally Integrated Power (TIP) where we have gathered all products and systems from medium voltage to the switches and outlets.

The level of integration of TIP makes cost-effective operation possible for customers, avoids over-dimensioning in energy distribution, and reduces costs".

At the Light + Building show, Siemens will present sector-specific solutions for hotels and offices, industry, labs and hospitals.

As part of its ongoing promotion of upcoming talent, Siemens is supporting the "10th Champions League of Young Electricians".

In this European competition, young electrical engineers from 15 nations will prove their abilities during the trade fair.

The Siemens Industry Sector (Erlangen) is the worldwide leading supplier of technical systems and equipment in the areas of production, transportation and buildings.

With integrated hardware and software technologies as well as comprehensive Industry-specific solutions, Siemens increases the productivity and efficiency of its customers in the fields of industry and infrastructure.
