The Signatrol SL151, part of its 150 series of portable temperature data loggers, has been further enhanced with the introduction of a magnetic start feature

This simple, yet flexible, facility allows the data loggers to be set up and pre-programmed in advance by an authorised manager and then started as and when required by an operator with a simple swipe from a magnet The SL150 logging 'tags', which have a strong proven track record across a broad spectrum of industries, represent a major advance in the remote temperature logging of temperature sensitive goods such as food and pharmaceuticals during processing, transportation and storage

The data loggers are housed in IP68 fully sealed, crevice free, robust food grade ABS tags only 10mm thick and powered by long-life internal batteries.

They use a patented wireless induction technique for set-up and data download, which means that the units have no plugs, sockets or entries of any kind that could harbour bacteria.

The data loggers are designed to travel directly with a consignment and provide a detailed time and date temperature profile over a measurement range from -300C to +700C.

Problems typically occur at change-over points in any journey, which may be made up of a number of separate sectors, sometimes using different modes of transport.

Temperature excursions at these points can easily be ignored or go un-noticed, but the SL150 provides that all important measuring continuum.

The units continually record data directly at the heart of any consignment, playing an important role in any HACCP regime.

Depending on the model, logging intervals can be set between 30 seconds and 100 hours with a maximum number of 16000 readings.

The data can then be used to highlight any problems which may have occurred throughout a specific journey, process or storage period.

A convenient through-hole allows the tags to be security-sealed to the consignment.

Configuration and data retrieval is carried out via a PC using the Signatrol powerful TempIT-Lite software package.

The units can be programmed with manifest details such as vehicle number, driver, destination, ship name, consignment number and container number.

The TempIT-Lite software can be down-loaded free of charge from the Signatrol website.

For greater functionality, the SL150 series can be used with the cost effective TempIT-Pro package.

If electronic signatures are required a special HS (High Security) TempIT version is available.

The three versions are common to all Signatrol data loggers and provide powerful yet easy to use graphing capabilities as well as a platform to set up and issue the logger.

Data are stored in an encrypted form so that they cannot subsequently be altered to disguise what actually happened but can be exported in spreadsheet format.

Two LEDs indicate the status of the unit during and after logging.

A red light indicates that the unit has seen temperature excursions outside the preset limits for a preset time interval while the green light indicates that no problems have been encountered.

Although the main application for the SL150 series tends to be within the food and allied industries, the units can also be used for a wide range of other commodities including blood products, pharmaceuticals and other temperature critical products.

The SL150 is just part of the Signatrol extensive range of standard and bespoke data loggers and recorders.
