Finnish simulation specialist, Karri Honkoila, reports that, "The issues raised in these enquiries relate to reducing stock levels, shortening throughput times, enhancing operability and optimising batch processes.
These are areas where modern simulation approaches have an important role to play".
He is equally enthusiastic that the virtual delivery mechanism is the right way forward for busy operators with conflicting time priorities.
"Our internet-based service means that SIM-SERV has been able to quickly access the right expert and, on a short turnaround, outline cost-effective solutions for the queries we have received so far".
The virtual consultancy service has been designed to address the needs of manufacturers in the process industry, piece-part operations and batch production.
Launched in October 2003, the service can be accessed by all manufacturers in Europe with no membership requirements.
