This free self-evaluation service is the latest development in a recent period of expansion, which has seen membership of the Sim-Serv e-based simulation network double to a total of over 50 organisations across European states.
Almost 30 simulation success stories, involving industrial users, are featured on the website.
They demonstrate the strong impact of the technology in a broad range of manufacturers business processes, ranging from design, investment, sales, human resources through to scheduling and operation.
Spokesman Dave Boland encourages users and suppliers to browse the site in order to absorb the potential held in these success stories and look for similar improvement opportunities themselves.
In addition, he points to the outcomes emerging from eleven test cases arranged by Sim-Serv which have been used to demonstrate novel industrial applications of Simulation and which are also reported on the site: "Although our test case applications are broad ranging, it's true to say that the common ground is the ability of simulation to deliver results - and usually on pay-backs of weeks or months".
The approach is still relatively new and Boland is enthusiastic to spread the word to increase industrial take-up ahead of other world regions.
He considers the Sim-Serv test case route as being an important one for demonstrating innovative applications of simulation in manufacturing and suggests that, "Manufacturers should visit the website to learn how simulation may be put to work cost-effectively and beneficially".
Manufacturers or simulation suppliers, possessing ideas for new industrial applications of simulation are encouraged to make contact with SIM-SERV in order to establish and promote new test cases.
