Are you aware that by summer 2007, there will be a smoking ban in enclosed public places across the whole of the UK? This ban has already hit Scotland and is due to be enforced in Wales by 2nd April 2007, Northern Ireland by 30th April 2007 and England on 1st July 2007.

The new law will make it illegal to smoke in an enclosed public place and will impose fines on both persons caught smoking in such places and also on the person who is responsible for controlling the building where the person has been caught smoking.

If taken to court the person who has allowed smoking in their premises could be fined a maximum of GBP2,500.

A major requirement of the new legislation is to display in a prominent position at each entrance to a building a No Smoking Safety Sign, failure to do so could result in a maximum fine of GBP1000.
