Safety interlocks on chlorine storage tanks

A Smith Flow Control product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Jan 19, 2004

Smith Flow Control has supplied safety interlocks to ICI Chlor Chemicals in Runcorn for use on the safety isolation valves of its chlorine storage tanks

Smith Flow Control has supplied safety interlocks to ICI Chlor Chemicals in Runcorn for use on the safety isolation valves of its chlorine storage tanks.

The storage tanks are protected from over-pressurisation by dual system bursting discs installed in the safety relief stream.

Descote globe valves fitted upstream and downstream of each disc allow full isolation of the relief stream during disc changeover.

The valve interlocks compel the operator to follow the correct valve isolation sequence, eliminating any possibility of human error occurring and ensuring that a minimum of one stream is always on line.
