Siemens helps safeguard UK drinking water

A Siemens Water Technologies product story
Edited by the Processingtalk editorial team Nov 18, 2008

Siemens Water Technologies is supplying 50 Hydraclam online distribution water quality monitoring devices along with a 12-month service contract to United Utilities in northwest England.

The Siemens' Hydraclam water quality monitoring device will allow the utility to remotely measure turbidity, pressure, conductivity and temperature.

The results will then be transmitted by GPRS to a web-based viewing dashboard.

The Hydraclam unit, jointly developed with Salamander Limited, is used for targeted real-time monitoring within identified problem areas or as a fixed-place monitor.

It is made of lightweight corrosion-resistant aluminium and can be fitted to certain European hydrants or truncated to the main for hydrants in other countries.

Its low profile makes it less susceptible to tampering.

The fire department can easily remove and replace the device from fitted hydrants.
