Sixnet has integrated a new add-on option to their line of Linux-based IPm Controllers and RTUs.

The new DNP v3.00 (DNP3) driver implements a slave device function.

Product manager, Mike O'Connor states: "DNP3 has become one of the industry standards in the electric utility and water treatment industries for applications in which time stamped event data is required".

He continues: "This implementation is fully compliant with DNP V3.00 Subset Definition Level 2, contains many Subset Level 3 features and some functions beyond Subset Level 3.

The slave driver has been designed to enable data exchange with all types of I/O in the IPm units.

It also maintains the optimum advantage of IPm features while providing full compliance with DNP standards".

The Sixnet IPm DNP3 slave is highly configurable.

It includes a Windows configuration utility, which integrates into the Sixnet I/O Tool Kit.

This tool covers event generation, run time DNP protocol behavior at all DNP protocol layers, and I/O to DNP object mapping for any I/O type.

Other capabilities allow it to communicate over a serial port with collision avoidances or over LAN/WAN.

It is capable of Link Layer confirmations and retries, time synchronization and unsolicited message generation for event reporting.

The DNP3 add-on option comes with complete documentation, including a step-by-step tutorial, a comprehensive on-line help system, context-sensitive tool tips, and a complete user manual with DNP Device Profile Document.

There are several models of Linux-IPm Controllers and RTUs available from Sixnet, all backed by a 20-year support and service promise.

There are many other add-on features, such as IP Security, PPP, SNMP, and HART.
