The metering systems for Rivers Fields gas deliveries are located in a new onshore gas treatment plant adjacent to the existing North Morecambe terminal, and were supplied by Skeltonhall of Sheffield
First stop on the way is Randaberg, outside Stavanger, where it will be integrated with a three-stream 12-inch turbine meter skid at the works of Holta and Haland Instrumentering A/S.
The prover, designed to operate over a flowrate of 400 to 2860 cubic metres/hour on a low viscosity condensate, has an operating pressure of 6.4 barg and temperature range between 5 to 30 degrees Celsius.
It is provided with four calibrated volumes with a nominal 7.6 cubic metres between the ATEX certified Skeltonhall Micro-set Sphere Detectors.

Due to the aggressive nature of the product all the valves and small bore piping were made from stainless steel, and all large diameter carbon steel piping and components were lined with Saekaphen baked phenolic resin.
The LNG plant processes gas received from the Snohvit area that comprises the Snohvit, Albatross and Askeladd fields in the Barents Sea, some 140 kilometres northwest of Hammerfest.
Comprising mainly natural gas, with small quantities of condensate, the separated condensate is stored in a 75,000 cubic metre tank at ambient temperature, while awaiting shipment from the products terminal.
It is estimated that the fields contain 17.9 million cubic metres of condensate, which will be shipped over the life of the plant from 2005 to 2035, at a rate of between 500,000 and 900, 000 standard cubic metres per annum.
The metering system will measure the volume of condensate as it is loaded into marine tankers, and the Skeltonhall bi-directional prover will be used to check and calibrate the meters.
During the factory calibration of the meter prover, using the master-meter method, five runs were required to establish temperature stability and remove all air, and the following five cycles to calibrate the four volumes.
Justin Hall, Skeltonhall project manager, said that each full proving cycle of a forward and reverse run was taking 90 minutes due to the small size of the calibration meter and the large volume between detectors.
"The sphere was travelling at 0.019 metres per second" he said, "and it was quite a feat to achieve a calibration after so few runs at a flowrate far below the design operating range of the prover".
Calibration was carried out by Saybolt UK using a 3" Avery Hardol PD master meter and 500 litre calibration tank.
The four volumes achieved repeatabilities of between +0.003% and +0.0075%, against a Norsok standard that requires +0.01 per cent.
Justin put the good performance of the prover down to careful workmanship, meticulous quality assurance standards and the excellent repeatability of the Skeltonhall Micro-set Sphere Detectors.
