The South Pars Gas Field is the largest gas field in the world straddling the Iranian and Qatari sectors of the Persian Gulf.
Currently undergoing a massive 25-phase development programme, it will eventually produce 300 million cubic meters of gas daily.
South Pars incorporates both on and off-shore facilities and Solartron Mobrey was brought in to provide reliable and accurate displacement level transmitters for marine environments at the site.
The level transmitters were designed with several bespoke features in order to ensure minimum maintenance and continued reliability within an aggressive marine environment.
This included using high strength non-corrosive materials such as Inconel alloy and Stainless and Carbon steels within the housing and process connections, and customer-specific switching points.
The Special Projects team comprises six Solartron Mobrey engineers who between them have over 100 years of engineering and design experience in process measurement technologies.
Based in the UK they handle all customer special requirements from concept and design to manufacture and test.
Responsibilities also include co-ordination of activities required to generate all the appropriate documentation in line with regional and industry-specific legal and safety requirements as well as any contract specific documentation.
"The entire process is managed by one team from start to finish," explains Peter Neaves, Manager, Special Projects at Solartron Mobrey.
"Where necessary, as was the case with the South Pars Project, we coordinate all those involved - manufacturing, purchasing, quality, engineering, sales, and finance and shipping departments in order to complete the task at hand.
As a result the time between order and installation is greatly reduced.
The customer is kept abreast of product development at every stage, to ensure timely delivery to meet project goals.".
