Shell launches new advanced hydraulic
oil range
Shell Lubricants have launched the next generation of Shell Tellus hydraulic oils to meet the demands of engineering companies looking to reduce downtime and maximise productivity from machinery
Shell Lubricants have launched the next generation of Shell Tellus hydraulic oils to meet the demands of engineering companies looking to reduce downtime and maximise productivity from machinery Formulated in response to ongoing developments in modern fluid power technology and the continually increasing pressures placed on hydraulic oils, next generation Shell Tellus overcomes problems such as corrosion, contamination, sludge build up, filter blocking and increased wear, which result in major equipment failure, increased maintenance requirements and expensive downtime

The Shell Tellus range of specialised, high performance mineral oil-based fluids is suitable for a variety of mainly static hydraulic applications.
Frederic Farshchi, Shell Industrial Lubricants' European Marketing Manager, commented: "Next Generation Tellus builds on all the inherent benefits of the existing Tellus range, with improved features which take hydraulic oil performance to a different level.
We believe this new oil can extend maintenance intervals by up to 100%, lengthen the working life of our customers' equipment and production lines, significantly increase productivity and ensure maximum return on lubricant investment".

The benefits of Shell Tellus were reinforced in a recent trial involving a plastic injection moulding machine, which had traditionally suffered frequent pump failures and significantly high downtime levels.
Introduction of the new oil and regular oil monitoring helped increase productivity by 73 minutes a week, maintained the pump in good working condition and helped the engineering company achieve a total saving of over GBP15,000 per year.
Shell estimates that as much as 70% of all hydraulic system operating difficulties are due to improper condition or contamination of the lubricant.
Utilising the most advanced technology, next generation Shell Tellus oil overcomes the problems associated with low-performing hydraulic oils thanks to its unique patented additive system, designed to ensure the hydraulic system remains clean, and performance is maintained, even under extreme temperature operating conditions.
Its very high thermal stability, together with superior oxidative stability for longer machine life and hydrolytic stability giving enhanced protection from breakdown and acid corrosion, all help to minimise operating costs which may previously have been regarded as unavoidable.
All round wear protection and filterability performance are further benefits of the new Tellus product.
Whereas many anti-wear additives used in other oils become active only under severe loading conditions or are unable to offer the same level of protection under low load conditions, Shell Tellus has been developed with additives which provide maximum protection at both high and low load condition extremes.
The new Shell Tellus range is available in all packages and viscosities and is augmented by Shell's extensive range of support services including Shell e-Quip.
E-Quip analyses oil samples taken from customers' equipment to assess machinery and identify potential problems, with dedicated e-Quip consultants working closely with engineers to get the most out of this comprehensive service.
The next generation Shell Tellus oil complies with all major quality standards including ISO and DIN and has been researched, tested and developed with the world's leading hydraulic original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
The successful development of next generation Shell Tellus reinforces Shell Lubricant's position at the forefront of the market. Request a free brochure from Shell Lubricants ...
