Energy audits can quickly offset price hikes
Schneider Electric has publicly called upon all those concerned with energy consumption, including governments, to place greater emphasis on implementing active energy metering and management
Schneider believes that active energy metering and management will combat both carbon impact and help offset massive energy price increases.
The latest UK energy price hikes, expected any day now, following the nPower 27% increase on certain tariffs widely reported in early January, will impact most consumers, including industry and commerce, by typically 15%.
This will mean energy costs will have almost doubled over just five years.
Fall out predictions include job losses, a marked slow down in the economy and many more individuals becoming subject to fuel poverty.
For business and commerce, Schneider Electric offers inexpensive energy audits that in most cases lead to substantial savings at little cost.
Indeed, the company believes that most of its audits result in investment that pays back within as little as a year.
The company, which has invested 100s of millions of Euros in developing energy saving and energy management solutions, has highlighted a global lack of will to invest the relatively modest sums required to make active energy savings.
It has also pointed out that while building insulation is a vital countermeasure against energy losses, this is effectively a passive approach to energy conservations.
It is the ability to continuously control energy use that renders an active approach.
David Snow, energy consultant with Schneider Electric Services and Projects, sums up the situation succinctly.
He said, "Many people fail to understand how energy is used and how simply it can be controlled".
He then added: "A painless audit, some measurement and metering, followed by a few relatively simple control remedies and most businesses would be able to offset these latest energy price increases immediately".
The Schneider Electric professional energy auditing services can be set up quickly and apply to all walks of business and commerce, including manufacturing sites, public buildings, infrastructure sites, educational establishments and all types of commercial properties.
