New 'Orbit' network card aids system integrators

Working with PC104, System Integrators engaged in the precision, mechanical measurement market can now benefit from the introduction of the Solartron new Orbit 104 Plus network controller

The network card is suitable for interfacing with all Solartron Metrology transducers including inductive and optical.

This dual channel device can interface up to 62 digital linear measuring transducers, DC analogue inputs via the (analogue input) AIM module, as well as encoder inputs and I/O.

The Orbit 104 Plus design enables the stacking of several cards to support a large number of transducers if necessary, currently, there is a software setting limiting to six the maximum number of Orbit cards.

The Orbit software protocol allows notification and identification of the various modules attached to the Orbit Plus card.

This protocol has been in existence for over ten years and is therefore well proven.

It has been deployed extensively in many industrial fields in conjunction with ISA and PCI cards as well as RS232 and USB PC interfaces.

Making it the ideal tool for interfacing dimensional and positional transducers for the PC104 computer user.
