As the first of a new family of instruments, Solartron Metrology announces the launch of the SI3500 digital, metrology transducer interface and post processing controller

New 'Orbit' Readout for Interfacing with Solartron's Metrology Transducers As the first of a new family of instruments and following customer focused research, Solartron Metrology announces the launch of the SI3500 digital, metrology transducer interface and post processing controller.

Designed specifically to operate with the Solartron gauging transducers operating on the 'Orbit' network, this plug and play instrument features an intuitive, menu-driven colour display which can be programmed to set limits and to record other parameters in a very simple way.

The standard unit had 2 Orbit inputs but this can be upgraded to 4 or 8 devices such as Digital probe or Solartron linear encoders.

Both memory and maths function have been increased over the previous displays and remote triggering is possible for hazardous environments.

Powered from a 24V source, the SI3500 can be used to display single or multiple readings, a computed result such as A, B, A+B or A-B, (A+B)/2, (A-B)/2, as well as computations with constants for angle measurements for example.

Control is via a front key pad and features discrete inputs and outputs and analogue outputs in the form of 4-20mA or DC voltage.

Additionally the SI3500 offers optional functions such as Peak+ or Peak-, Timed / Sleep mode, Multi-channel display for 4 or 8 probes and other basic SPC maths functions.

A Note on the Orbit Network: Solartron Metrology's Digital Products and the Orbit Network combine to provide a complete dimensional measurement and data acquisition system.

In addition to interfacing Solartron products, the Orbit Network can also host a variety of third party sensors.

Orbit is comprised of controllers and modules; these are used to perform measurements as well as some control functions.

The modules and controllers can be networked together to form a highly versatile plug and go measurement system.

Each module is identifiable through a unique address to simplify the data acquisition task especially in large multi-channel networks.

Orbit can be hosted in a PC using the Orbit network card or the USB interface module, it can also be connected to a PLC via the RS232 Interface Module.
