An all-in-one steam trap station that helps cut installation and maintenance costs and simplifies the selection of components has been launched by Spirax Sarco The STS17 is a complete welded assembly comprising isolation valves, steam trap connector with strainer and a check valve

The steam trap connector is suitable for connecting any of the Spirax Sarco range of Quick-Fit steam traps.

Apart from the steam traps themselves, no other components need to be specified or purchased, eliminating the considerable time and costs needed to fabricate and install a conventional steam trap station.

Steam traps are simply and easily fitted to the STS17 by two bolts.

As well as fast initial installation, the Quick-Fit system cuts the time taken to replace a steam trap from up to two hours to as little as four minutes.

Traditionally, steam traps are welded or screwed into the pipeline and considerable work is needed to remove them for maintenance.

Often this means that the trap is left in place until a planned system shutdown.

If the trap is stuck open and passing live steam, considerable energy can be wasted; or if the trap is blocked, process efficiency can be affected.

The STS17 can be fitted with optional automatic steam trap monitoring facilities.

Sensors can be fitted to automatically detect when a steam trap is passing steam or is blocked and backing up condensate.

Using a handheld monitor or wall-mounted panel, steam trap operation can be checked at the touch of a button.

Being compact, the STS17 can be fitted into areas too small to accommodate traditional steam trap stations comprising separate components.

Furthermore, the Quick-Fit system is factory built and guaranteed to have zero emissions.

The new station is manufactured in stainless steel for long operational life.

The use of stainless steel also makes it suitable for clean steam and filtered applications such as hospital sterilisers, dairy production, food and drinks processing and some pharmaceutical plants.
