Coating system for concrete in WwTW applications
Tnemec PermaShield surface coatings have been specially developed for the extreme environments now found in concrete and steel structures in old and modern WwTW subjected to H2S and other factors
Tnemec Performance Coatings have been working with a major water authority to investigate the accelerating rates of corrosion in concrete and steel structures now being found in old and modern WwTW.
The results show the increased effects of hydrogen sulphide gas, and high surface abrasion due to higher standards of odour controls and longer retention times: both have accelerated corrosion problems.
New surface coating technologies are now required to protect these structures.
Tnemec PermaShield surface coatings have been specially developed for these extreme environments.
Controlled trials have been running over the last two years here in the UK, with excellent results and approval from wastewater engineers.
Guy Smithson, MD of SPC, who are the UK representatives of Tnemec, explains:" This coating system provides Wastewater engineers with a real solution to extend the working life of concrete and steel structures exposed to such extreme environments, also providing faster back into service performances from these high performance coatings".
