Metal detector for plastics feed stock

The new 'Protector' removes both magnetic and non-magnetic metal contamination from new and recycled granulate and ground feedstock for all types of injection, blow moulding and extrusion machines

The new Protector from S+S Inspection removes both magnetic and non-magnetic metal contamination from new and recycled granulate and ground feedstock for all types of injection, blow moulding and extrusion machines to minimise machine downtime and give rapid cost recovery Because the detector is mounted directly above the material infeed point, the possibility of contamination of the feedstock after separation is eliminated

Protector provides 'last chance' protection that minimises machine downtime and damage to moulds, nozzles, filters and hot runners.

Sensitivity to detect metallic impurities as small as 0.3 mm is combined with the straight through flow design to eliminate choking, even with regranulated material, and high-speed separation ensures maximum productivity.

The S+S Protector is available to fit standard 30, 40, 50 and 70 mm feed pipes and the compact aluminium-block design allows heavy conveyor, mixing and dosing equipment to be fixed directly to the unit.

Contaminated material is diverted by means of a venturi nozzle into the reject material container that may be located some distance away from the machine when space is at a premium.

The reduction in maintenance costs and machine downtime achieved by reliable removal of metallic contamination ensures fast cost-recovery and, by protecting delivery schedules, maximises customer service.

The contribution of users to the development of the new S+S Protector has ensured that all the technology is directed at maximising performance in practical production environments. Request a free brochure from S+S Inspection ...
