Bespoke pump units to meet the most arduous duties
Whilst many pump manufacturers today wish only to supply standard pumps, the SSP brand of Positive Displacement Rotary Lobe Pumps is able to offer bespoke pump units to meet the most arduous duties
The design results in good self-priming performance and unparalleled tolerance of problem solids including rag, fibrous matter and grit.
This, together with low maintenance, makes these pumps ideal for duties within effluent and industrial treatment processes, covering applications such as primary tank manual and auto de-sludging, digested and humus sludge, raw sewage, abattoir and poultry wastes, and other industrial waste products.
The SSP Dual Disc pump range, with its reciprocating action of two rubber discs moving in opposition to each other, can handle sludge thickness content up to 10%.

Controller brings flexibility in motor protection
The new ABB Universal Motor Controller, UMC22, offers a powerful and flexible intelligent control device for motor protection applications, and is designed for use with the new ABB Fieldbus Plug
The pumps are capable of flow rates up to 52 cubic metres/hour with differential pressures up to 3 bar and suction lifts up to 6 metres max.
Three models provide port sizes of 50, 80 and 100mm.
A patented 'phased' shaft design enables pumping at maximum capacities and speeds without the high noise, vibration and pulsation levels experienced with similar reciprocating pump designs.
On lift applications, the use of SSP Dual Disc pumps can result in a reduced lifecycle cost (LCC) over other pump technologies, such as Progressing Cavity pumps, which typically exhibit dry running problems and high spares costs.
The SSP Dual Disc pumps can be supplied mounted on galvanised mild steel base frames, fully motorised with fixed or variable speed electric motor drives including appropriate control systems.
Other prime movers can be fitted such as pneumatic, hydraulic, diesel or petrol powered.
The pump is also available as a mobile unit, providing greater versatility of application around the plant or site.
For applications where larger solids are entrained in the flow, the SSP Single Disc pump is ideal.
With a clear flow path through the pump minimising any risk of blockages, the passage of large spherical solids up to 65mm diameter can be easily handled.
The pump is capable of flow rates up to 24 cubic metres/hour, with differential pressure at 1.5bar, and it can handle sludge thickness content up to 6%.
SSP Single Disc pumps are supplied fully motorised with a fixed speed geared electric motor drive.
The gearbox shaft turns a crank assembly that provides a reciprocating pumping action of the single rubber disc.
SSP brand Dual Disc and Single Disc pumps are constructed from a minimal number of parts.
Pump housings are cast iron.
The high grade elastomer discs, valves and gaskets are low-cost consumable items, easily replaced on site without the need for highly skilled personnel.
By design, the absence of close tolerance clearances in the pumping chamber means that SSP Dual and Single Disc pumps have a high resistance to grit abrasion, making them the right choice for arduous duties.
