Unlike many anti-spatter treatments on the market, Pre-Weld is free of the health damaging chemical, dichloromethane.
"Unlike other dichloromethane free anti-spatters, Pre-Weld is genuinely effective," stated Graham Stevens, managing director at SIS.
"It makes welding easier, cleaner and cheaper.
It is selling so well because it outperforms its competitors and is safe to use".
The Pre-Weld popularity is also due to increased awareness of the dangers of dichloromethane.
According to new health and safety regulations, as of June 2003, any product containing this should display information to the user, which states that it is harmful by inhalation, swallowing and contact with the skin, in addition to being carcinogenic.
"Pre-Weld sales also suggest that employers are finally wising up to health and safety issues and taking action to protect their staff and, consequently themselves too," Stevens claimed.
"No company wants to run the risk of having to pay out hefty compensation claims any more".
Apart from being proven to cause damage to the blood, the nervous system and the liver, if used long-term, dichloromethane can also cause cancer.
Pre-weld is most commonly available as a pressure spray, which vastly outlasts aerosols, is more environmentally friendly and provides better spray consistency.
The used canister can also be freely disposed of.
Pre-Weld is able to cope with even the most heavy duty welding applications.
It eliminates weld spatter problems and allows for easy removal of any slag or crust.
