The Automation Products Group introduces the PT-500 submersible liquid level/pressure transmitters, with a unique removable and replaceable protection cage

The APG PT-500 features a vented, watertight cable and delivers a high precision 4-20mA solid-state signal while submerged up to 450 feet A unique (patent pending) removable stainless steel cage connects to the sensor with a simple snap ring and enables users to save significantly on sensor replacement costs

"The stainless steel cage is a fairly expensive piece of hardware that in the past could not be removed from the sensor, or reused.

Historically that has meant that each time a sensor needed to be replaced in the field so did the cage at an added cost of USD200 or so," says Karl Reid, Engineering Manager: "Because these types of sensors are used in some nasty environments they tend be replaced on a fairly regular basis, so being able to re-use the cage can deliver exponential savings over a period time".

Rugged IP68 protected PT-500 transmitters are individually tested to deliver accuracy of 0.50% of span, and are temperature compensated to ensure accuracy and long-term stability under extreme temperature variations.

Simple-to-install surface mount technology provides added protection from shock and vibration.

As a result, they are an ideal solution for sewage lift stations, tank liquid level measurement, water and wastewater, well depth measurement and environmental water depth measurement.

Automation Products Group (APG) was originally a division of Scientific Technologies (STI).

In September 2006 Omron Corporation acquired the safety products business of STI, and APG was formed and purchased by the family that founded STI.

Although a new company, the APG roots in the sensor business go back to 1971.

Located in Logan, Utah, APG supplies tailored sensing solutions for measurement applications to the process control industries.
