Finally, an unbiased look at the world's non-contact level gauges (ultrasonic, laser and radar) especially for process automation engineers and end-users! Spitzer and Boyes, and ISA - The Instrumentation, Systems and Automation Society, have released another book in their co-marketing agreement to sell a unique series of books through the ISA Press Called 'The Consumer Guide to....' series, this set of books provides detailed and unbiased guides to the most commonly used instruments throughout the world

The seventh Guide in this series is 'The Consumer Guide to Non-Contact Level Gauges' by David W.

Spitzer and Walt Boyes.

This book provides insights into the advantages and disadvantages non-contact level gauge technologies (ultrasonic, laser and radar).

Did you know that the 60+ suppliers of non-contact level gauges (ultrasonic, laser and radar) describe level gauge performance in about 30 different ways? As a result, it is difficult (if not impossible) for users to compare and contrast the performance of non-contact gauges when making purchasing decisions.

You can read 'The Consumer Guide to Non-Contact Level Gauges' to learn how to sort this out.

The discrepancies between published specifications and the explanations received from suppliers were shocking.

They were so different that Spitzer had to contact virtually all of the suppliers to confirm the performance of their level gauges.

To complicate the issue, six underlying types of performance statements were found (as compared to only four for flowmeters).

Extensive tables are used to document the specifications that resulted from extensive clarifications from suppliers.

This is the first completely independent guide to the world's non-contact level gauges, including listings by tank height, performance, supplier, and model.

This guide is indispensable for designers, engineers, owners and end-users of level measurement systems.

Now users can see trends in level measurement developments and use this guide to help decide which level gauge is most applicable for their applications.

The book is available from Spitzer and Boyes, and through the ISA Press.

Chip Lee, Director of ISA, commented, "This is another very important book, and I am very pleased that we will be able to offer it in this series that previously included books about flowmeters and fieldbus." David W.

Spitzer is a world-recognized measurement expert and author of Industrial Flow Measurement and five other books in this series.

Walt Boyes is the editor of the Instrumentation Reference Book.

David and Walt are principals of Spitzer and Boyes, specialising in providing engineering, market research, and related consulting services to instrumentation users, manufacturers, and representatives on a worldwide basis.

Books currently in "The Consumer Guide to" series include.

* Fieldbus Network Equipment for Process Control.

* Coriolis Mass Flowmeters.

* Differential Pressure Flow Transmitters.

* Magnetic Flowmeters.

* Ultrasonic and Correlation Flowmeters.

* Vortex Shedding and Fluidic Flowmeters.

* Non-Contact Level Gauges.
