Valves at Baxters soup plant prove 'souperior'
Long stroke double seat mixproof valves supplied by Sudmo UK are ensuring soups produced at the Baxters Grimsby plant continue to remain wholesome and tempting
The scope of supply includes around 500 D600 100 mm diameter double seat valves and hundreds of other stainless steel process valves.
Most of these valves are built into prefabricated valve blocks and all pneumatically operated valves are equipped with the new Sudmo Intellitop control head, fitted with electronics for use in a DeviceNet intelligent communication circuit.
The majority of the valves blocks and loose valves are being fitted in the new bright beer cellar and the yeast room at Yatala.
One valve block and a significant number of loose process valves, ranging in size from 12 mm up to 150 mm, have been supplied to Burton on Trent based Briggs plc, who are responsible for the construction of the new twin brew house plant.
Supplying factory built valve blocks not only minimises installation time at the brewery site, but also offers a number of important operational and quality related benefits.
High integrity orbital welding procedures are used for all the interconnecting joints and full pressure testing is carried out in house.
The control tops are prewired and air supply lines connected, allowing each module to be fully tested for operational functionality prior to shipment.
The double seat valves offer the hygienic and aseptic processor the capabilities to establish automated multiple routings with absolute confidence.
The Sudmo double seat technology guarantees that all process and cleaning fluids in complex routing systems remain separated even in the event of seal failures.
The space between the seats is open to atmosphere, which, in the event of seal failure, establishes a preferential flow to the outside.
The D600 series have a one piece precision machined body made from a single piece of high grade forged stock 316L stainless steel.
They feature a low number of product contact seals in the product area and these can be replaced simply and expediently.
The seal materials can withstand sterilizing temperatures up to 150C.
