Softinway is to conduct a five-day intensive course for engineers involved in turbomachinery design, redesign, optimisation and retrofitting on 21-25 September 2009 in Dusseldorf, Germany.

The course consists of two parts: axial turbine fundamentals (Monday-Tuesday) and an Axstream interactive workshop on turbomachinery flow path design and optimisation (Wednesday-Friday).

Both parts are independent, so users can choose one of them or register for both.

The first part is a comprehensive overview of steam and gas turbine basics, including such topics as turbine designs and cycles, initial turbine sizing, multi-stage turbines, turbine calculation, design and off-design operating modes and profiling and 3D blade design.

This part of the course is dedicated to engineers who want to acquire more detailed knowledge of thermodynamics, gas dynamics, structural analysis and the basics of axial turbines and their elements.

The second part represents a hands-on training programme that provides engineers with all the necessary theory and practice to design and analyse an optimised turbomachinery flow path using Axstream.

This contains special tracks to cater to the particular interests of participants: axial and radial turbomachinery, axial turbine, axial compressor, radial turbine, centrifugal compressor and retrofitting and performance upgrades.

By the end of this training, each attendee will receive a free one-month licence to the Axstream turbomachinery design software suite (which has a value of more than EUR10,000 [GBP8,454]).

Softinway offers a 20 per cent discount for those who register for the course before 15 July.
